When you have downloaded the installer .OVA you will need to login to your vCenter via the VMware vSphere Web Client, as far as I know this isn’t yet implemented on the vSphere UI Website (https://FQDN/ui).
You will need to right click the vCenter, Datacenter or Cluster object and select ‘Deploy OVF Template’.
You will now need to select the location of the .OVA File that was downloaded from the above link.
You now need to select the name and the location of the Virtual Machine that will be deployed from the .OVA.
You will now need to select the Host/Cluster that you want to deploy the VMware vRealize Log Insight 4.0 virtual machine.
You will now be a presented a summary of the .OVA file that you are deploying. It will ask for further properties to be filled out shortly.
You will need to accept the VMware End User License Agreement to continue.
You will now need to select the sizing of your VMware vRealize Log Insight 4.0 Appliance. This is the sizing specifications recommended by VMware here.
I Deployed the Small option as this is in a Lab Environment.
You’ll now need to select the Datastore that you require the VM to reside on.
You will need to specify the destination vSphere Network required for the VM.
Specify the Network Settings required for the VM.
You should now review the summary of the .OVA file and then click Finish to start the installation.
You will now be able to check the ‘Recent Tasks’ area in the vSphere Web Client to confirm this is now deploying as expected.
Start the VM once it has been deployed. You will now need to wait for the OVA to be configured.
When the OVA has configured successfully you will be able to browse to the configuration wizard which will be here – https://FQDN
