Upgrade VMware vCenter Server Appliance 6.5 to 6.5A
Before proceeding I would advise you to create a Backup of your VMware vCenter Server Appliance encase of failure. I have created one using Veeam.
You will initially need to browse to the VMware vSphere Appliance Management page and Login using your root credentials for the vCenter Server Appliance. This can be found here – https://FQDN:5480
When you have logged in you will be presented with the Health status of your vCenter Server Appliance.
You will need to navigate to ‘Update’ and select the ‘Check Updates’ box in the top right corner of the page.
When you have checked for updates the ‘Install Updates’ box will appear as per this screenshot.
Click Install Updates and It will ask you to accept the End User License Agreement.
You will now see the vCenter Server Appliance updating.
When the process has been completed you will need to reboot your vCenter Server Appliance.
Navigate back to the Summary page and you will see the Health Statuses are now showing as ‘Unknown’. Click Reboot to finish the installation.
Click Yes to Reboot.
When your vCenter Server Appliance has updated you can log back in to this page. You will see the Health statuses are now back to Green. Also you will be able to see the VMware vCenter Server Appliance version now shows as version 220.127.116.1100. This completes the upgrade!
