Veeam Availability Suite 9.5 Is Now GA!
Veeam have now officially released Veeam Availability Suite 9.5! This was released on the 16th of November 2016. Veeam have always been at the cutting edge on releases, this version adds support for Windows Server 2016. As far as I can see this version does not yet provide support for vSphere 6.5. This is planned for Update 1 of this release, However the basic features may still work as expected. This has been the case in previous releases such as when vSphere 6.0 was released and Veeam did not officially support it. As per any release, I initially would recommend installing this in a Lab Environment.
Veeam have added a lot of new features to this release. I’m very excited about using the following features –
Veeam Direct Restore to Microsoft Azure – Restore any backup of a VM Directly to Microsoft Azure!
Advanced ReFS Integration with Microsoft Server 2016 – Upgrading to Microsoft Server 2016 Backup Repositories to use the advanced ReFS’s functionality.
Added Storage Snapshot Support for Nimble – As per Veeam’s integration with HP, NetApp and Dell EMC, Nimble have worked with Veeam to provide this functionality for this release.
Veeam have also made many enhancements to existing features such as vCloud Director functionality. You can find more information about the features here
As I currently run Veeam 9 in my Lab Environment I will be creating a post on upgrading this to version 9.5. As per previous releases I’m sure this will be a seamless upgrade.
You can find more information on the release here.
Thanks for reading and stay tuned for posts on upgrading from Veeam version 9 to version 9.5!
