Home Lab

I have previously been asked about my Home Lab so I thought I would create a post to detail what I’m currently using in my Lab.

VMware ESXI Hosts

I’m currently running my ESXI Hosts on VMware ESXI 6.0 U1, Including vCenter 6.0 U1. I have multiple uses for my Home Lab such as running this WordPress website, vCenter, SQL, Exchange, Veeam, Plex & vCloud Director.

Future Improvements

I have purchased a Synology 412+ NAS that I plan to install 4x 4TB WD Red Pro Drives in RAID 10 Configuration. These will be used for VM’s and Potentially Veeam backups. I will present the storage to the ESXI Hosts using iSCSI as the Synology NAS Includes VAAI Support. I will also enable LACP & Jumbo frames on the Switch & ESXI Hosts for further improvement in throughput on the Synology NAS.

Eventually I want to upgrade the RAM in the ESXI Hosts to 64GB each.
